Undertale grew a massive fanbase in the year following its release and this extended to Japan when the game was localized for that region in 2017. The love for Undertale among prominent figures in the industry was such that Fox was able to collaborate with different Japanese developers, one of which was Masahiro Sakurai of Super Smash Bros. fame.
