I don't think those are the main issues, but I feel like their presence in tandem with the poor reception of Red Dead Online has a lot to do with the game's relative silence. The main storyline could be complete and you could have wandered about the wilderness for hours, but you're sure to find something you previously missed. There are so many encounters waiting beyond the horizon. No icons on the map will guide you to every little moment. Make your own moments. And the shroud of uncertainty that blankets what you should do next is thrillYou have to be unlikable in a Western for your most defining character trait to be the silhouette of your cowboy hat. Bill Williamson was known for having one side of his hat up and pressed against the center. He was also known for being a real big jerk.

The sequel shows a somewhat different character. In the crossroads of an existential dilemma, Dutch must choose between changing his entire identity to save his band of followers or fall victim to his own fallacies and authoritative attitude. Dutch is one of the most conflicted characters in the entire series, struggling with his devotion to living free while still chasing a life of everlasting peace for his gang. He truly believes in himself, as much as his followers do, which drives him into the very state of insanity we find him in during the origiHosea Matthews was the oldest and most respected member of the Van Der Linde gang. Alongside being Dutch's right-hand man and confidant, Hosea was easily the most intelligent person in the gang as well. He had a preference for non-violence, but as Dutch began to fall off the wagon, their ideals began to clash.  
His only other role of note was in the TV series titled Angels In America where he played one of the characters father. Pinhasik did an excellent job of bringing the Austrian loan shark to life and was able to toe the line between a heartless crook and loyal gang memCharles and Sadie Adler are arguably the closest pairings among the gang right behind Arthur and John Marston or Micah Bell and Dutch Van Der Linde. The two of them show that good people and outlaw tendencies aren't mutually exclusive things.  
However, despite how natural Wiethoff seems in the role, he wasn't actually Rockstar's initial choice to do the job, as the company originally hunted down several big-name celebrity actors instead. The major name considered for the role was none other than Clint Eastwood, which makes sense given his history with the Western geOnce Hosea passed away, Dutch had little to no resistance or push-back from someone he truly respected which only accelerated the groups fall from grace. Hosea's death was the straw that brought the horse's back.It retroactively makes him a more dynamic character int he first game due to the information players gather from his time inside the Van Der Linde gang. Since they're kind of a package deal you can go ahead and add his wife Abigail right next to him at the #3 spot on the list.
